What is this test?
The purpose of Aldolase test is to identify and
observe the health condition that can harm skeletal muscles and organs. So
through this test, a doctor can have the information of diagnosing various
muscle diseases such as polymyositis, muscular dystrophy, or dermatomyositis.
How to prepare for the test?
Before the Aldolase test, the healthcare
professional may ask you to stop eating and drinking for around 8 hours. You
might also need to avoid any medications temporarily that may affect your test
result. During the test, the healthcare provider will withdraw your blood
sample, generally from a vein in your arm.
What does the test result mean?
The reference ranges of the aldolase test result may
vary, like other tests. There is a slight difference between the level of
Aldolase, based on age. The ideal reference range for adults below 17: 1.0 to
7.5 units per liter (U/L) For those of 17 years or above: anything within 14.5
units per liter Deviation from this range may indicate the presence of any
health issue in your body. In that case, consulting a specialist doctor might
be necessary to examine further on your condition.
