What is this test?
The Albumin test is a type of liver function test
that helps to identify if your blood contains any abnormal level of albumin.
What does the test measure?
Albumin test measures the amount of albumin in your
blood.
How to prepare for the test?
The health care provider may ask you to refrain from
taking certain medicines (i.e. Anabolic steroids, Androgens, Insulin etc.) that
can affect the test result. Apart from that, a blood sample from a vein in your
arm is only needed during the test. The process usually takes around five minutes.
What does the test result mean?
The normal range of albumin in blood is 3.4 to 5.4
g/dL (34 to 54 g/L). If your albumin level varies slightly from the normal
value ranges, you need to consult a specialist doctor about the issue.
